· Use an accelerator lotion before you get in the tanning bed. Accelerators activate your melanin for dark tanning and “lock-in” critical moisturizers. Without an accelerator, a tanning bed pulls moisture from your skin and dries out your skin in less than 5 minutes. DRY SKIN BLOCKS SUNLIGHT!
· Tanning the Front of your Body: Make sure the tanning bed’s canopy is pulled down completely once you are laying down. The top acrylic should be a few inches from your chest.
· Tanning Your Face: Make sure your face is underneath the tanning lamps and the pillow isn’t positioned too far at the end of the bed.
· Tanning the Back of your Body: Eliminate pressure points that cause white spots on your tailbone and shoulder blades by repositioning yourself every few minutes. Lift up on your shoulders and shift to the left and right just an inch. The Shuttle Standup is also a great way to eliminate white spots from pressure points.
· Tan for the maximum time your skin can handle without burning! You should be able to gradually increase your exposure time as your build your base tan.
· Get on a Schedule! Tanning 3 times per week for a couple weeks is normal to get a base tan started. Waiting too long between tanning can cause your tan to fade!

· Upgrade to our Hyper Bed or Standup! You’ll tan faster and darker in higher level equipment, assuming you’ve already built a base tan in the Level 1 Pure Power Bed. · Try a bronzing accelerator lotion! Bronzers cosmetically tan your skin and add an extra level of darkness to your tanning session. We recommend a bronzer with a hint of self-tanner (DHA ingredient) to really boost your tan! · Try a tingle or warming accelerator lotion! They will increase your blood circulation and excite your melanin by bringing it up to the top layer of your skin and causing it to oxidize faster. The more oxygen your melanin is exposed to, the faster you tan. · Tanning Your Feet: Try laying on the opposite end of the Level 2 Hyper Bed with your feet positioned under the High Pressure Facial lamps. They will deliver concentrated UVA bronzing light to the tops of your feet! · Tanning Your Sides: Hold the bar or straps above your head while tanning in the Shuttle Standup. It’s easier than laying on your side in the tanning bed. · Work out BEFORE you tan! Similar in action to a tingle lotion, working out increases blood circulation and excites your melanin. · Drink plenty of water. It extends the life of your tan by hydrating your skin from the inside-out. · If you are using a bronzing accelerator lotion, we recommend NOT showering for at least 2 hours to allow the bronzing ingredients to “soak in” to the skin. With any other accelerator your should be able to shower immediately. · After you shower, use a daily moisturizing lotion to replace lost oils and nutrients vital to maintaining healthy skin. · Tell everyone you got your tan at Sunburst Tanning Co.!
