What is Sunless Airbrush Tanning?

It’s a new way of applying sunless tanning solution to your body using state-of-the-art airbrush technology.

 

Our trained and certified technician applies a very fine mist of sunless tanning solution that covers your body in minutes.  A bronzer in the solution gives clients the gratification of being able to see results quickly while DHA reacts with the proteins in the skin over time to produce a long-lasting tan.  Plus, high quality moisturizers make your skin feel soft and supple.

 

What is DHA?

The active ingredient, Dihyodroxyacetone (DHA), is FDA-approved and derived from glucose (sugar).  It is the most common ingredient found in today’s self-tanning products and eliminates the “fake orange look” evident in self-tanning products of the past.  

 

How is the solution applied?

Our staff is SmartTan Certified and professionally trained in the application of sunless airbrush solution.  The entire process is “touch free” and should not take more than 15 minutes (10 minutes for application, 5 minutes for drying). 

 

Unlike sunless spray booths or application by hand, the airbrush method guarantees even-coverage tailored to each person’s body shape.  Sunless spray booths do not compensate for troublesome areas such as knees and elbows, and application by hand often leaves streaks and missed areas.

 

Is it Safe?

Airbrush tanning is cosmetic.  It uses the same basic sunless tanning components as the products being promoted as a smart alternative to UV-exposure.  The main feature of this product is the way it is applied—an airbrush misting process. 

 

How Dark Will I Get?

Approximately 3 shades darker.  The darker you tan naturally, the darker you will tan with Sunless Airbrush Tanning. 

 

The initial tan, which you observe in seconds, is a deep, dark brown.  It is often referred to as a Jamaica tan.  The initial color is from the bronzer, and most will wash off with your first bath or shower.  The DHA tan, which peaks after 12 to 24 hours, is a golden-brown color, often referred to as the Baywatch tan. 

 

What should I wear during the airbrush session?

Depending on where you want tan lines, you may wear whatever you want!  In most cases, the transferred color washes right out, but as a precaution, most people who want tan lines wear an older or less expensive swimsuit.  We do not recommend wearing nylon, silk, or wool fabrics.  

 

How long will my tan last?

After one session, our clients report that the tan typically lasts 3 to 10 days (7 days average).  This varies according to the individual's skin type and lifestyle, (swimming, sweating, etc., will decrease the length of the tan). The tan can be extended by the daily use of moisturizers.

 

How often do I need to do it?

That’s up to you!   Once a week is average and will give you color.  Twice a week gets you extremely dark.  We do not recommend back-to-back tanning sessions, especially for your first time.  While you get much darker, you increase your chance of having a cosmetic problem.  At least wait one day between sessions.

 

Can I tan indoors or outdoors after I get airbrushed?

Airbrush tanning does not offer any protection against UV exposure or sunburn from the sun or tanning bed.  We recommend using a SPF 30 in the sun and carefully monitoring tanning bed usage after your airbrush tanning session.

 

What about allergic reactions?

We have had very few reports of reactions of any sort.  However, if you have hypersensitive skin or are allergic to sunless-tanning products, please proceed with caution and check with your physician.

 

I might be pregnant…

We do not recommend Sunless Airbrush Tanning for anyone who is pregnant.
